Google Map Listing Verification – No Address
Free, actionable information made for members of the free Local Client Armageddon Facebook Group.
I’m writing this article today about the absolute most important aspect of generating local leads and doing local SEO. Many coaches, mentors, and marketing experts all teach about how it is easy to get SEO clients and local business clients, but they never discuss the most important roadblock that needs to be overcome.
When you do research on a local niche, you notice that the Google Map results are always at the top. This is where the majority of leads are going for businesses.
In order to compete with local businesses, you will need to get a verified map listing so that you can start generating leads.
The only way to get listed in the Google Map 3 pack, where all of the leads are coming from, is to have a physical address in the city.
This is because Google makes you request a postcard to an address and then you have to verify something from the postcard. Learn a few workarounds in this article.
What is the Google Map 3 Pack, Why Is It Important?
The 3 Pack is the three local businesses that are listed at the top of Google when you do a search. Typically, these are local searches with intent to choose a local business.
To make money: You can create your own ‘fake’ local business, get it ranked & generating leads, and then rent this property to business owners.
You can also work for clients who already have a Map listing, and charge them monthly for SEO services.
Three Solutions: How to add a business to google maps without an address
It is not easy to get a verified Map listing, though. Fortunately for you, there are a few workarounds that I am going to share in this article.
1. Obtain a Client And Use Their Address
When you get a client, you will have to check whether or not they have a verified Google Map listing. If they do, you can land them as a client and optimize their current Map listing. If they do not have one, then you can request the postcard on their behalf.
Greyhat Method: My main strategy in internet marketing is that I like to own my own properties, rather than rank somebody else’s. So I came up with a method to use business owners for their address. I would cold call businesses saying that I had leads & traffic coming in that were looking for their services, and that I needed to work with someone to send them the leads. I would offer them a free trial for 1 week if they allowed me to use their address to verify the Map listing.
Typically, no leads would come in, but they would still let me verify the Map listing after they trust me. From there, you can find a new client or continue to work with that one when real leads do start coming in.
2. Post An Ad On Craigslist
I’ve used this method for verifying addresses in larger cities. I put an ad on Craigslist in the Labor Gigs section. In the ad I write “Make $50 for Sharing Your Address & Helping Our Expansion” or “Make $50 for helping us change addresses” as the title. Then in the body of the ad I tell them something like this:x
Hello! I am the owner of a local service based business. I am working on expanding our business into City, State and I need someone to help with something.
I am making a Google Map listing for our business in City, State but I need a physical address to verify the Map listing. Here is what you can do to make $50:
- Text me at 555-555-5555 with your name and complete address
- I will make the Google Map listing and request the postcard. It will arrive in 5-8 days. If it does not arrive I can request it again.
- When you get the Google Postcard in the mail, text me and let me know. I will send you $50 with PayPal or Walmart Moneygram. After I send you the money, you send me the code on the postcard.
- You can do this for multiple addresses and in multiple cities if you have addresses in different cities.
The replies will pour in and you can use these addresses to make Google Map listings.
3. PO Box and Virtual Address
I don’t care what people say, but these still work. Google does not have super advanced filters that automatically detect virtual addresses and PO boxes. I have found that once verified, even if it is a PO box or Virtual Address, it will not have problems in the future.
Yes, I know it is against Google TOS, but it works.
Use these methods to verify a Google Map listing and start generating some local business leads. Once you are getting leads/calls, you can find a client who wants the leads. Sell the website, rent it, have them pay per lead/call, and more.
